Bio
I am Emily Goodstein, a multimedia artist from the United States. I currently live and work in Torino, Italy with my husband and our little dog.
Making art has been important to me since I was very young, often taking many different forms like dance or photography or eventually visual arts. My current creative practice still takes on many forms, painting in a handful of different styles and finding ways to blend my love of painting, sculpture, embroidery, and storytelling into my creative routines. I explore different questions through different styles of work, using my artistic practice as a form of contemplation.
I received my BA degree in Studio Art from Ithaca College, where I also studied education and psychology. Then I worked as both a preschool teacher and an art teacher in New York City from 2021-2025. Both teaching practices focused heavily on the social emotional growth of my students through mixed media art projects. As a teacher, I believe in art education as a way for students to contextualize the contemporary world they are inheriting and contribute to it in a considerate, caring, and colorful way. As an artist, I am always a student.
